Strength through Perseverance by Women of Faith

The Rescue: Why Women Are the Heart of The-Way

Good morning to all readers of The-Way.

At first glance, a deep dive into the lives of women in the Bible might not seem like the most direct path to a Christ-centered blog. However, I assure you that the profound impact these women had throughout time is astounding. Their stories aren’t just footnotes; they are the very threads that weave the tapestry of our salvation.

The Great Reversal

We often focus on the sin of Adam and Eve—a choice that led to the downfall of mankind [1]. But we must also look at the “Great Reversal.” Just as death entered through a woman’s choice in a garden, life was restored to us through a woman’s obedience. Through Mary, who bore Jesus Christ our Savior, we were rescued from death and brought back to life [2].

My goal in this upcoming series is to bring into the light the significant roles women have played through strength, perseverance, and faith.

The Road Map: From Eden to the Early Church

Over the coming weeks, we will travel chronologically through history to see how God used women to sustain His people and prepare the world for the Messiah. We will look at:

  • The Matriarchs: How Eve, Hagar, and Sarah survived the wilderness and carried the first promises of God [3].
  • The Bold Advocates: How outsiders like Rahab and Ruth, and queens like Esther, risked everything to preserve the lineage of Christ [4].
  • The Leaders: How Deborah provided wisdom and strength when an entire nation was in chaos [5].
  • The New Testament Witnesses: From Elizabeth, the first to recognize the Lord in the womb [6], to Joanna and the Samaritan Woman, who supported the ministry and spread the Living Water [7].
  • The First Messengers: We will conclude with Mary Magdalene and teachers like Priscilla, who were the first to shout the Good News to a world in darkness [8].

A Seat at the Well

Whether it was Hagar at the well in the desert or the Samaritan woman at the well of Jacob, God has a long history of meeting women in their isolation and giving them a purpose that changes the world. I invite you to join me on this journey. Let us move these stories out of the shadows of obscurity and celebrate the women of faith who helped show us

A Prayer for the Journey

Heavenly Father,

We thank You for the tapestry of faith You have woven through the lives of our mothers in the faith. We thank You for the Great Reversal—that where there was once disobedience and shadow, You brought forth light and life through the “Yes” of a woman.

As we travel this road from Eden to the Early Church, open our eyes to see:

  • The strength of the matriarchs who survived the wilderness.
  • The courage of the advocates who risked all for Your promise.
  • The clarity of the witnesses who were the first to shout the Good News.

Lord, for every reader who feels isolated or in the “shadows of obscurity,” meet them at the well today. Give them a seat at Your table and a purpose that reflects Your glory. May we all find our place in The-Way, following the path of the One who makes all things new.

Amen.

The-Way.
